For the "Oh! Brother!" File

Turmoil in the Toybox - 1990
Description:
"A Shocking Expose' of the toy and cartoon industry. It reveals the hidden dangers found in the He-Man and Masters of the universe, Barbie, Rainbow Brite, G.I. Joe, Smurfs, Dungeons & Dragons, Care Bears, Thundercats, E.T., Cabbage Patch, to name a few. This Book unmasks the New Age, influence that have invaded the once innocent toy box. TURMOIL IN THE TOYBOX also explains the importance of play, and how toys can enhance or stunt a child's development. In addition, this book provides the reader with an alternative to today's more popular toys."
Phil Phillips has done a great service to America as a whole, and the Christian family in particular, for exposing the occult connection in the toys being marketed to unsuspecting children. Every parent should be aware of the potential for mental and spiritual harm from allowing their children access to such toys."
The cover
The only thing more disturbing than the description of the book is the evil-looking Yoda on the front cover...see also Darth Vader in the center of the box....Oh, Brother!

I'll stick to the basic ground rules in raising a child, thank you.

PS...thanks darth_load for the initial heads up!

___Edit___
Funny isn't it? A little scary too I'd say.
I can't help feeling sorry for children under any belief system that controls everything in their environment. Not so much because they will lack the toys that you and I enjoy, millions of others live without them and do just fine. No, it's the thought that they grow up with fear and anger. We all know what that leads to.

Parents who are convinced that these toys are the tools of Satan might have to "protect" their children from other things out in the big blue world. TV, movies, radio, malls and stores (those who sell evil toys must be evil themselves), restaurants, travel (unless it's to convert the wicked), circuses (clowns are evil), games/gaming, reading, art, speech...etc., etc. Where does that end?

The environment becomes more and more controlled until parents feel they have no choice but to limit nearly all outside contact and influences. Phil or Texe encourage parents and others to protect themselves from the evil outside and move to a fortified compound where they'll continue to "guide" their children: stymie all creative thought, control play and playmates; tenaciously police reading materials and eliminate celebratory events.

Phil or Texe will start to implement worship of God through them, surround themselves with military-style protection then, either gather at that all-important meeting to drink and sleep* or find they, through no fault of their own, are "protecting" themselves from the **Feds until they've rightly martyred themselves and their innocent children.

Oh! yes, that is far less evil than letting them play with Yoda and Darth Vader. Really, too much or too little freedom has a tendency to come to a bad end. Striking a balance between the two generally works out for the best.Odd little world we live in.

2016 EDIT
There was a sequel

What kind of BS is that?! "Oh no! Our children are devil worshipers because they play with eeeevil dolls!" What kind of stupid moron would think that todays toys are evil? I think I speak for everyone when I say these stupid jerks can take a long walk off a short cliff.

*sets down her sacrificial knife on the altar of the d*mned, giving the baby lamb a few more seconds of tortured life* Muah-haa-haaa, I must play with my childhood toys to achieve the right mindset to do this ritual ...

*rolls eyes* I must be the devil incarnate, because I played with ALL those toys.

No offense to anyone, but this is why I quit doing the "religion" thing. Most of those people are nuts.

All hail the Dark Lord!!!

Give me a break. I enjoyed every minute of my childhood (and my later adulthood) playing with action figures of all types. My friends and I had a blast recreating scenes from movies or making up our own stories. I guess all those years of using our imagination and creativity have prepared us for a lifetime of servitude as minions of the Dark Lord.

Hell, I'm 39 and my friends and I still roleplay. Call me a geek if you want, but if you do, my master shall smite thee and banish your soul to the depths of Hell!

I can think of no better way for my 4-year old son to grow up than by playing with all those "evil" toys. I love watching his mind work as he plays.

Yeah, you heard her right. The Smurfs and the Care Bears...are occult symbols.

We knew this already, a LONG time before this book came out.

Oh, your kids play with Care Bear dolls?Huh? I didn't say anything.

Give me a break! How can toys turn a kid into a Satanist? And why would the guy who wrote that book call Yoda a "Zen Master" anyway?

This is just plain nuts!

Just a theory; I used to own the book, must've gotten rid of it.
The guy rents all three Star Wars, because he sees the replacement of God with the Force. This makes sense. Ya know, "May the Force be with you" instead of "May God be with you", all that. So he grabs a pencil and a pad of paper. But maybe it's late, and so by ESB, he starts falling asleep, and ends up falling asleep just when they say "Jedi Master" or something similar. He wakes up, hears "Master", writes it down."Hmm...he's the a master of...something."

Next day, he looks through his copy of The Big Book O' New Age Symbols, Cults, and Leaders, and sees Zen Master. He connects the dots...all out of order.(Kinda like drawing a like between dot #1 and #6...or #1 and #678976)

Ok, dumb theory. But if you go through the book, it starts sounding more and more plausible.

By the way, The Big Book O' New Age Symbols, Cults, and Leaders isn't really a book. Don't start asking about it.

See also: Ravaged by the New Age by one Texe Marrs. It's even more radical-and obscure-than Terror in the Toybox.

Seriously. Texe Marrs burned mojor calories jumping to conlusions for this book. Really. She says Yoda is not only a demon, but was based on a demon in a 1928 book about occult...things. It even has a picture.
Here's Yoda's origin:

I guess all those years of using our imagination and creativity have prepared us for a lifetime of servitude as minions of the Dark Lord.

Erm, actually, his problem was that the kids weren't making up their own characters for their action figures, and instead were being told how to play by the movies, cartoons, etc.

Guess he didn't watch enough children.

Anyone can turn anything into evil if they look long enough and hard enough.

Children have an innate ability to think for themselves, to be naturally creative. Over-managing or under-managing them can have the same results.

My nearly 3 year old loves playing with his "commercial" toys but I can't tell you how often he is just as entertained with a bucket, sand and some leaves...the yard in general, or just the cardboard insert from a roll of paper towels and a piece of string.

Balance is key.
