Short break to give a little tidbit of news.
Right here in town this weekend is Fionnula Flanagan (Catarine Towani in The Ewok Adventure) who is presenting the Breakthrough Performance Award to Felicity Huffman at the Palm Springs International Film Festival (a few miles from me) this Saturday (January 7, 2006) at the black tie awards gala.
The Festival, which attracted 108,000 people last year, is California's most popular film festival. Ticket sales this year are up 22% from last year. And as usual Entertainment Tonight is covering the event with Mary Hart as a co-host for the gala events. Some philanthropists are shelling out $15,000 for a table at the Saturday night gala.
Some of the celebrity honorees, guests and presenters this year are: David Cronenberg, Shirley MacLaine, Jake Gyllenhaal, Charlize Theron, Felicity Huffman, Terrence Howard, Keanu Reeves (presenter), Fionnula Flanagan (presenter), Virginia Madsen (presenter), Peter Sarsgaard (presenter) and Q'orianka Kilcher (guest - Pocahontas in New World which screened tonight and also stars Colin Farrel).
Two of last year's honorees were Samuel L. Jackson and Liam Neeson, you can check out which honors they received.Hope everyone's new year is starting out well.
